Just a head's up to all members, about the corner of Ross/Robertson/Hollywood. As you turn left towards Hollywood, usually at speed to either be with the "bus" departing King George Crescent or going like a bat to catch up, there is a metal plate on the inside (wrong side of the road) of the corner, that extends across to the right lane. Anyone trying to take a line inside will go over the plate, and others keeping to the correct side of the road still may have an encounter with the corner and "curb" around the plate. As well, leaves through this section of the ride, customarily taken with heads down and tongues hanging, are a real slippery mess. Ah fall/winter riding.

Thanks Brian. A couple of follow on points given the type of weather we are facing the next few months and the resulting road conditions:

1. no more pacelines (ie. Blenkinsop or Uvic) so we can avoid dark + wet + overlapped wheels. Lets stay 2Up but make the pulls shorter;

2. lets stay together until AFTER Hollywood. That chicane is sketchy in wet weather so lets not cause ourselves bigger problems. If you fast guys can hold back a bit I wil be personally very appreciative as if you are ahead I cant seem to control myself and HAVE to try to chase and that is sure to lead to a fall disaster (like the word play?); and

3. Final sprint will now be done at the crosswalk over Dallas Rd. beside the Surf Motel just before Ogden Point (at Oswego St). Then sit up and take it easy going past Ogden particularly because of the 3 big slick metal plates!!!

That sounds rather sensible.

boy, do I like that idea... Does a sprint on a downhill with intersections and "doorprizes" make sense? perhaps Terry fox? or the flag pole? (or perhaps Oak Bay Marina???) I'll bring my spray can tomorrow :) it's the new color of ARGYLE :)
